Qube Awarded $2.55 Million from Emissions Reduction Alberta to Scale Continuous Emissions Monitoring
Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) has awarded Qube Technologies $2.55 million to advance our continuous emissions monitoring platform for methane and greenhouse gas detection.
The award is part of a $15.1 million investment in seven technologies led by Calgary companies, announced today by the Government of Alberta and ERA. Total value of Qube's project is $7.9 million. The funding is delivered through the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) fund, Alberta's industrial carbon pricing system, which reinvests compliance revenue into emissions reduction projects across the province.
What the funding supports
The award backs the continued development and field deployment of Qube's continuous monitoring platform: sensors on site, data collected in real-time, and quantified results operators can act on and defend. Importantly, this award comes at a time of continued product expansion at Qube. We are proud to offer:
Qube Fenceline: Site-level continuous emissions detection, localization and quantification
Qube Lite: Lower cost, source-level, rapid continuous emissions detection
Qube Camera: High resolution visual context for equipment and operations
Currently in development:
Qube OGI: Low-cost, fixed, thermal OGI camera designed to visualize plume location
Qube Handheld: Lightweight, portable methane detection to conduct LDAR inspections - with no previous training or certifications required.
These modalities can be used in concert for comprehensive operational insights or independently depending on an operator’s requirements. With the expansion of these solutions, operators collect the measured data increasingly expected under frameworks like OGMP 2.0 Level 5, MiQ, and evolving federal, state and provincial methane regulations.

The broader announcement
Qube was one of seven Calgary-led projects funded in this round. The others span low-carbon asphalt production, lithium refining, alternative protein feed, used motor oil recycling, drone-hoisted power line robotics, and a uranium conversion feasibility study.
Together, ERA projects the seven technologies will reduce 111,600 tonnes of emissions by 2030, create more than 460 jobs, and contribute an estimated $74 million to Alberta's GDP.

For Qube, the ERA funding serves the same objective. It supports the expansion of our continuous monitoring platform across more modalities and improved data modeling, resulting in improved operational insights and emissions reduction across asset bases.
Why it matters for operators
As methane management technologies improve, they become a clearer measure of sustainability goals and operational efficiency. Stakeholders, buyers, and regulators are increasingly asking for measured emissions inventories, and the operators who can robustly produce it are the ones who avoid surprises at audit and can show a defensible reduction over time. This funding from ERA accelerates our ability to put that capability in more operators' hands, at a cost that scales.
